Cutting-edge patient care
and on-site treatments
At Sage Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Gandhok and her staff have decades of experience treating all types of cancer and blood disorders.
Our team of experts is dedicated to providing specialized care, and our infusion suite is staffed with experienced nurses who provide a variety of infusions and injections to treat patients with blood disorders and cancers.
We are committed to providing the most up-to-date, advanced cancer care, keeping in mind the latest advances in therapy. Cancer treatment is complex, and every patient requires their own personalized plan, factoring in cancer type, stage, patients age, genetics and other factors.
Our services include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, either alone or in combination, to ensure the best outcomes for you, our patient.
Hematology Services
Dr. Gandhok is board certified in the treament of hematologic disorders, both benign and malignant.
Hematologists focus on the treatment of diseases of the blood — including conditions that alter red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
These include anemia, clotting and autoimmune disorders, and blood cancers such as leukemia, multiple myeloma and lymphoma. We provide onsite iron infusions and other injections and treatments for blood disorders.
Personalized therapy
Sage Hematology and Oncology providers embrace the use of targeted therapy to promote patient outcomes. We know each patient’s cancer journey is unique, and we test pathology tissue for different biomarkers and genetic mutations so we may offer the latest in individualized, targeted treatments.
For example, if indicated, our patients are tested to see if their tumor has a biomarker that will respond to certain therapies. Some forms of targeted therapy may destroy the cancer cells by disrupting important functions, targeting cell receptors, or even by destroying the blood supply to the cancer cells, causing cell death. One benefit of targeted therapy is that patients experience fewer side effects than traditional cancer treatment. Targeted therapies may be partnered with other treatments to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment regimen.
Our providers counsel patients and make referrals to genetic counselors as needed.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy, or anticancer drug treatment consists of a combination of medications to treat cancer. Chemotherapy targets cancer cells systemically and stops or reduces the growth of cancer cells in the body. It can be given through injections, infusions, or orally.
Dr. Gandhok has more than 18 year's experience in choosing the right treatment for you and stays up-to-date with new medications. She will review all available choices and recommend the best therapy based on your disease.
Our experienced, compassionate staff will navigate you and your family through a treatment plan built especially for you.
Oral chemotherapy management
At Sage Hematology and Oncology we assist in managing oral chemotherapy.
When our team prescribes an oral specialty medication, your providers and nurses will review common side effects, guide you through symptom management, and are available to answer any other questions you may have. Some insurances require you to use a specific specialty pharmacy, and we will let you know and contact the pharmacy.
Our staff will assist in verifying your prescription coverage, benefits, and co-pay and guide you through the necessary steps to fill your prescription. Our dedicated financial assistance staff will investigate possible co-payment assistance programs and whether you qualify for assistance for the amount not covered by your insurance.
Immunotherapy
In recent times there has been an expansion in cancer treatment options incorporating immunotherapy. Immunotherapy stimulates the patient’s own immune system to locate and target cancer cells. Immunotherapy has become standard of care for many cancer types.
Dr. Gandhok and her team will discuss whether immunotherapy is an effective option for your cancer treatment and will facilitate onsite administration.
Hormone therapy
Hormone or endocrine therapy reduces or halts the growth of cancer cells that grow through hormones. This kind of therapy may reduce the production of specific hormones or disrupt the body's response to specific hormones. Patients often find they tolerate this type of treatment better than other therapies.
Dr. Gandhok will discuss with you whether hormone therapy is an option to reduce the chances of your cancer recurring or to slow or stop its growth. She may use hormone therapy alone or in combination with other treatment(s).
Hormone therapy may be given orally or by injections, and our staff will assist you in filling your prescriptions or scheduling your treatment.
Dr. Gandhok and her advanced practice providers will discuss whether hormone therapy is an option for your type of cancer and, if indicated, will arrange treatments on site.
